Romantic; In the countryside; Among nature
Dwingeloo is a nice hospitable village with a very special and beautiful village green. From the shady village center you can enjoy views of several splendid farms and old renovated houses. The “Siepel”, the unique tower of a Dutch Protestant church, is characteristic of Dwingeloo and is visible from afar. You will also find “Planetron” in Dwingeloo. This is a very special facility with a projection screen of 350 m2. It is well worth a visit. The surroundings here are ideal for exploration. There are fantastic opportunities for hiking, cycling and horseback riding. Enjoy the varied nature of the “Dwingelderveld”, a national park characterized by woods, heaths and fens. This is Europe’s largest wetland area and contains plenty of unusual plants and animals. “Dwingelderveld” is freely accessible and even has paths for disabled persons as well as rental of bikes, horses and covered wagons so you can make nice trips. And you cannot help but see Dwingeloo’s world famous radio telescope on one of your trips.
