The main sites in the area are Vrchlabí, Spindleruv Mlyn, Pec pod Sněžkou and Janské Lázně. Prague lies about 130 km away and is accessible by car within an hour and a half. The Polish border lies approx. 50 km away. For an active summer there are plenty of possibilities. In Dvur Kralove you can visit the Czech Republic's largest animal park with numerous animal species and a safari park (open in summer). Of course you should not miss the chance to visit the famous and unique rock formations of Adršpach and Prachov (all within half an hour). The famous 'friendship route' should not be missed either with its cable car up to Pec pod Sněžkou, the highest point in the Czech Republic (the famous Sněžka). From here its a beautiful, 4-hour-long hike to Spindleruv Mlyn, on the 'roof' of the Czech Republic and Poland. Here, in the beautiful surroundings you will find many marked hiking and cycling routes. There are sufficient restaurants in the area where you can eat at a reasonable price (a complete meal costs 8 €, 2007 prices) and a good measure of beer ('Pivo') is also on the list of possibilities. You can even visit a brewery in Nova Paka. Furthermore, on Saturday evenings there is a great disco in Pecka!
