<p>In this magnificent area on the Adriatic Coast you can enjoy nature, culture, music or the versatile culinary specialties of the area. You can go on a photo safari through the Neretva River Delta, visit a bird collection in Metkovic or the archaeological findings of Narona in Vid. In the small village of Klekyou will find several restaurants offering traditional regional dishes. A visit to the beautiful cities of Dubrovnik, Mljet, Ston and Korcula is also worthwhile. Everywhere you go you will find numerous beaches, cafes and seafood restaurants. DUBROVNIK, surrounded by a fortress wall, is a magnificent town which is visited year round by tourists. The buildings of the old city combined with the many unique attractions help make Dubrovnika beautiful piece of Mediterranean world heritage - a true open-air museum! MEDJUGORJE (Međugorje) is a mountain village in southern Bosnia Herzegovina. Since 1981 it has been known for its supposed Maria appearances. Thus it is now a famous pilgrimage site.
The ISLAND OF MLJET is the most forested island in the Mediterranean Sea and is reminiscent of the Alps. The highest point is Veli at 514 meters. The island is known for its national park and the saltwater lakes of Malo Jezero and Veliko Jezero. There is another small island nearby which has a Benedictine monastery and the church of St.Mary, which dates from the 12th Century. In the port of Polace there is a Christian church. Even a visit to Ston (with a 5.5 km long wall - the longest wall after the Chinese Wall) is worthwhile. Other popular attractions include oyster and shellfish farmers and the salt pans, where you can still win salt from sea water.</p>
