Among nature; Near water
Frielendorf (230 - 260 m NN) lies amidst a softly rolling landscape dotted with picturesque half-timbered small villages, hiking paths and cycling routes. Together with the holiday park of Silbersee, it is an officially recognized mountain air health resort. Homberg (10 km), the capital of the region, is situated at the gateway to the Knüll Mountains, a low mountain range of the Kurhessen Highland and an extremely popular recreation and holiday area. The twenty districts of Homberg look back on an eventful past. The townscape is typified by the Marien Church that made history as one of the biggest Gothic hall churches in Hessen. Besides the numerous activities of the park and vicinity, it is also worth your while to visit Fritzlar (35 km), an ancient settlement situated on the steep banks of the Eder River, surrounded by walls and defensive towers. Crowned with the impressive twin-tower front wall, this place is a jewel among the medieval towns of Hessen. In the woods around Frielendorf you will find various mountain bike routes (17 km in total). Upon sufficient snowfall, there are limited ski possibilities at the neighboring ski resorts of Knüllköpfchen (in Neuenstein, with two lifts and two ski runs) and Vogelsberg. In addition, there is the Knüll Nature Centre & Wild Park just 10 km away. In short, a versatile area to explore!
