Domaine de Romefort is 20 km from Limoges, which has about 150.000 inhabitants and is famous for its porcelain. There are several museums here as well as a variety of opportunities for entertainment, both during the day and in the evening. Just a 5 minute drive away lies the medieval town of St Leonard de Noblat. Here you will find cozy pubs, good restaurants and supermarkets. It has a beautiful old town center and a famous church which was built in a unique architectural style. It is a popular place for visitors so not surprisingly you will find regular markets and tourist events here too.
St. Leonard de Noblat and Domaine de Romefort are situated on the centuries-old pilgrimage route to St Jacques de Compostela Ella (Spain), and Rome. On the east side of Romefort you will find the extensive area around Lac de Vassiviere. This lake is 10 square kilometers in area and provides the opportunity to enjoy a number of water sports.
The forests in the immediate surroundings are ideal for hiking and mountain biking. 15 minutes away (by car) there is a recreational lake which has a beach with lifeguards and a space for a variety of activities. Along the field there is the Vienne River which is suitable for canoeing. Along the river you can see many watermills which are still in use.
In autumn, the woods here are a mushroom paradise! Within just a few minutes walk you can find dozens of delicious edible mushrooms. The hilly area is ideal for cycling. The following activities are also possible in the vicinity (up to 30 minutes away by car): swimming, golf, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, various water sports and tennis.
