Winter sports; In the mountains; Among nature
The Ore Mountains were formerly a region of volcanic activity so not surprisingly the soil is rich in minerals and mineral rocks. This is evident also in the surrounding environment which contains old mines as well as other mineral sources. In the surroundings you can also find several marked hiking, cycling and mountain biking trails. Behind the house there is a mountain meadow and a forest with some streams. On the other side of the village there is a nice rock formation. At a distance of 1 km you will find a small lake where you can swim. In Šindelová (2 km) lie the ruins of an ancient pewter factory. Behind the small village of Prebuz (4 km)there is a marshy area. In Jeleni (10 km) there are remains of a uranium mine and a labor camp from the 2nd World War. Tips for trips: Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad, 25 km) has a historic center with hot springs. In one of the spa buildings a 13-meter-high geyser bubbles up into the air. Also, look at the inscriptions in the shops for Russian guests. There are numerous shops in the vicinity including Tesco and the high-end shops of Pierre Cardin, Benetton and Marks & Spencer. The old city of Loket has a castle complete with torture chamber in its center. Soos (45 km) is a marshy area with a trail and natural history museum. Something similar can be found in Kladská (45 km), and there is also a hunting lodge to admire here. The resorts of Františkovy Lazne (47 km) and Marianske Lazne (50 km) are wonderful, with magnificent spas. Also, across the border in Germany there are plenty of opportunities for excursions, such as to a small zoo and mini-golf course in Klingenthal (20 km) or the unique ski jump of the Vogtland Arena (25 miles). In Mulleiten (25 km)there is a sensational and exciting toboggan run. In Tannenbergsthal (35 km) there is an old stannary (tin mine) and mineral museum.
