Winter sports; In the mountains; Among nature
You can start with hiking, cycling or mountain biking right from the apartment. On your hiking or cycling tours you may see deer, fox and martens. The Giant Mountains are geared for tourism, but not as fully as in other countries. The small town of Pec pod Sněžkou (26 km) has a funicular which leads to the Czech Republic's highest mountains: Snow Mountain (Sněžka; 1,602 m) with a splendid view of the Giant Mountains; the Eagle Mountains; and the mountains of Poland. In the surroundings you can enjoy para-gliding, the Monkey Park (among the trees and climbing ropes), rafting, tobogganing, abseiling and rock climbing in the high cliffs of the Adršpach. You can swim in the pool at Trutnov (15 minutes away) or at a large reservoir and many smaller lakes - all with free admission. A flight is possible from the small airport of Vrchlabí (11 miles). In Mladé Buky (11 km) there is an excellent 9-hole golf course. When hearing the name "Dvůr Kralove" everyone thinks of the zoo and safari park, which is among the 150 major zoos of the world. A ticket costs only about 4 euros. In Trutnov (20 km) you can go shopping (the larger shops are open until 20.00). On the square you will find a statue of the mythical figure "Krakonoš" - the ruler and protector of the mountain area of Krkonoše (Giant Mountains). Even Vrchlabí, the first and most northern town on the Elbe, offers a baroque monastery and Giant Mountains Museum, as well as great shopping and entertainment opportunities. All the possibilities can be found in the information book located in your accommodation.
