Gyenesdiás is situated near Keszthely Mountain, in the Western Balaton region, 100km from the western border of Hungary. It is right next to the famous Hévíz Thermal Lake and the town of Keszthely, known as the cultural capital of the Balaton.
The village offers a number of leisure-time activities for tourists. On the west side of the village you'll find Lidós Beach, which is popular with families who have small children. The other beach here is Diási Beach. It is the most beautiful and considered one of the best in the region. It offers a full range of services including restaurants, snack bars, rentals, a giant water slide, 2 beach volleyball courts, a football field, table tennis, streetball and waterpolo. It also has a 500-meter-long shoreline and broad areas for sunbathing. This is also a great place to cycle or go for a walk. In the village leisure, cultural and sports programs are organized each summer.
Gynesdiás is one of the most popular holiday villages in this region. It’s particular fascination is the water, mountains, beautiful landscape and grape and fruit plantation. Part of the land is covered by pines which give a Mediterranean feel to the region. The majority of the protected land is woods. Here you will find the Festetics belvedere (232m) from where you can enjoy a fantastic view of Keszthely Bay and the surrounding mountains. These natural features, as well as the man-made landmarks, are easily accessible via marked tourist roads and forest trails. You can also find some riding academies here. It is worthwhile to visit the region on horseback or take part in a mounted tour. Naturally anglers have not been forgotten as there are some ideal places for fishing in the area.
