The small town of Bük is the proud home to one of Central Europe’s most active mineral springs. The nationally certified spa resort is located in a Hungarian region on the road to Vienna, at the foot of the Alps 50 kilometers from the Austrian border. It is 220 km from Budapest and 50 km from Sopron. The second largest spa in the country offers opportunities for relaxation for all ages. The spa, which comprises 13 hectares, is a real spa complex with 27 pools. The pools are filled with medicinal, thermal and drinking water. There are indoor and outdoor pools with a total water surface of 5000 m². 11 indoor pools, 12 outdoor pools and 4 half-covered pools with a roof await guests year round.
The medicinal waters of Bükfürdő are particularly beneficial for locomotive disorders. For diseases of the digestive system a drinking cure is recommended. The medicinal waters have a curative effect themselves, but complex cures with medical attendance are also offered. Services at the thermal spa include: medical examinations, complex medical cures, hydro, electro and physiotherapy, medical gymnastics, various massages, laser, parafango, mud pack, ultra sound and weight bath.
The mineral spring produces curative hydrogen carbonate water containing fluoride, iodide and iron. As a bathing cure it is good for rheumatic and orthopaedic diseases and traumas. As a drink it is beneficial for diseases of the digestive system. Respiratory catarrhous can be cured by breathing the aroma of the waters. Osteoporosis, all locomotive disorders, after-care treatments after orthopaedic and neuralgic operations, sciatica, arthritis, lumbago, gout, arthrosis, and diseases of the digestive system.
Bükfürdö is not only famous for its spa but also has a remarkable number of cultural and sports programs of which the most significant are the Summer Festive Days of Bük and the Sports Gala in December.
