In the mountains; Among nature; Near water
The 'Bayerischer Wald' National Park is the oldest nature preserve in Germany (1970). It is called the green roof of Europe and is a true paradise for nature lovers with a total of 1100 kilometers of long distance footpaths. The most famous route is the Goldsteig, a 660 km long trip. It takes you through a beautiful countryside past famous landmarks. Bicycles can also be rented in the Bavarian Forest. Mountain bikers can test their endurance curbing the tops of the 300 kilometer long "Mountainbike Eldorado". A stay in the Bavarian Forest is also good for the health. The area has up to 16 open-air spas. For families with children, there is also plenty to discover. Arberland even has a tourist office for children, 'Kinderlandbüro'. And if you would like a break from the trees of the forest, you can visit one of the many glass factories or museums along the "Glass Straße" or take a trip to one of the medieval castles in the vicinity. The highest mountains in the Bavarian Forest, Großer Arber (1456 m) and Hohe Bogen are also a good destination and are just 25 and 8 km (respectively) from the park. If you would like to be sure of snow, try one of the serene white hiking or cross-country ski trails in the area. In the summer you should definitely visit the fun park in the valley station of Neukirchen bei Heiligenblut, near the Hohe Bogen. Here it's all about skating! There is a skate lift, a downhill path, fitness trail and even a summer toboggan run. Inline skates can be rented. Enjoy a night out or pamper yourself in Bad Kötzting (10 km). Here you will find a casino as well as a wide range of wellness centers. Finally, take a trip to Bayerwald Zoo Lohberg with its 300 indigenous species.
The nearest ski lift Höllkreuz is about 4 km from the complex, the ski region Eck 6km, the Hohe Bogen 8 km.
