Winter sports; In the mountains; Among nature
The High Sauerland, also known as the "Land of a 1000 Mountains" contains high peaks, deep valleys, rivers, winding roads, flowing meadows, vast forests and cozy little villages and is undoubtedly one of the finest, if not the most varied natural area in Germany. Hikers will find a network of trails (with something for every ability) stretching hundreds of kilometers and offering a varied nature with beautiful panoramic views. The beautiful half timbered village of Lenne, named after the river that flows through the romantic village, is accessible on foot in about 5 minutes. The area around Lenne - the "Schmallenberg Sauerland" - is known as the "pearl of Sauerland" and has many small friendly villages with historic half-timbered houses, plenty of culture and tourist attractions and activities such as museums, lakes, riding academies, mini-golf, golf, cross-country trails and ski slopes.
