Holiday Park; Among nature; Near water
This area offers something for everyone. It is an ideal area for hiking, cycling, mountain biking and motorcycle riding, but is equally suited for those who are simply looking for a little peace and quiet (and space) so as to enjoy their holiday! The Auvergne is one of the cleanest and least densely populated regions of France. In the field of sporting activities, there is a wide choice. For example, in the immediate vicinity of Olloix you have the opportunity to enjoy wonderful hiking trips ranging from simple, short walks for the less experienced hiker, to longer more challenging treks for the experienced hiker. In the Auvergne you can even hike part of the Saint Jacques de Compostela Elle trail! Furthermore, in the Auvergne you can enjoy mountain biking, motorcycling, horseback riding, golfing, fishing etc. The (volcanic) lakes in the area, including Lac d'Aydat and Lac Chambon, offer a number of possibilities for water sports such as swimming, canoeing, pedal boats etc. Culturally too, the Auvergne has much to offer, from castle ruins to well preserved and beautifully restored churches. The 6 “castle routes” in the Auvergne offer the opportunity to view a wide choice of castles, churches, fortresses and monasteries. People looking for more action can try delta-gliding, paragliding, downhill mountain biking etc. You will find adventure parks in Saint Nectaire and Royat not to mention various outdoor activities plus (in the summer) the toboggan run in Super Besse. The Vulcania Theme Park has 30 spectacular and interactive attractions for both young and old plus provides the chance to learn all about volcanoes. After all this activity if you are looking for some relaxation, places like La Bourboule, Le Mont Dore and Saint Nectaire have thermal baths where you can enjoy a simple but relaxing sauna, or spend the day being pampered with beauty treatments.
