Among nature; On an island; Near water
Groix lies a few kilometers off the coast of Lorient. Several ferries a day run from Lorient to Groix. You'll find just a few small towns on the island. High cliffs characterize the northern coast while sandy beaches can be found in secluded coves along the southern coast. Groix is also home to a wide variety of sea birds. The holiday village of Croix Island offers a lot of activities so you can enjoy a pleasant family holiday in Brittany (Games, rides, sports, etc). The resort is located next to a beach paradise with turquoise water. You can discover it by bicycle along the sandy beaches or you can take nice walks on trails overlooking the ocean.
Visit and admire the only convex beach in Europe or the largest tuna cannery on pint-sized Port Tudy. You will also find an excellent museum, the natural reservations of Pen Men and Pointe des Chats, the charming little port of Port-Lay where the first fishing school was formed. Then there is Quelhuit, a typical small village with winding streets and the chapel of St. Leonard which was built on a hill overlooking the sea. On foot, by bike or bus, you will be enchanted by the charm of this small island.
