Explore the underworld of the old mine shaft of Mayen Stap. Step inside and descend deep into the earth via an old cage. Learn about the history and technology of slate mining. Of course you will receive the proper gear to help ensure that you do not get lost! Upon request you can end your experience with a buffet. Mayen is 40 minutes drive from the Eifel holiday park. Ideal for families with older children. A personal guide is not a luxury for your mountain bike adventures here. Wolfgang Kubannek from Manderscheid knows the region and is on-hand to take you under his wing. Koulshore in Daun is for daredevils: this is a very technical course for experienced mountain bikers, with hanging wooden bridges and spectacular jumps. The Vulkan Bike Trail Park has a total of 750 km of trails - you choose! Or visit the imperial castle, the pride of Cochem. It is a brisk and steep walk to the imperial castle which towers above the city. This old fortress dates from the year 1000 and has been reconstructed to be as authentic as possible. Here you can see how knights and ladies once lived. What’s more, the view of the valley of the Moselle is priceless! From January until March there are daily tours. At night you can enjoy a knight’s meal (reserve in advance!). Cochem is half an hours drive from the Eifel park and is suitable for all ages. Climb the mountain to the castle of Löwenstein if for nothing else but the view. Cozy cafes and restaurants abound. Montreal is also just half an hours drive from the Eifel holiday park and is ideal for romantic souls. With water sports and quad-biking in the summer, cross-country skiing in winter and Nordic walking possible year round, come and discover the unique surroundings of the Eifel holiday park with its ancient volcanic landscape.
