The area around “Lidi Comacchesi” offers numerous possibilities for interesting excursions. For example, you can visit the nature conservancy area of the Po Delta, with its beautiful flora and fauna. This is a great place for hiking, biking and horseback riding. If you are looking for more in the way of culture and art, visit the historic cities of Comacchio, Ferrara, Ravenna and Venice. Comacchio, located about 8 km away, is a charming town dating from the late Roman period. It was built upon 13 islands. The current historical center keeps alive the beautiful testimonies of the past: magnificent churches and monuments and bridges spanning the canals. Ferrara is a UNESCO world heritage site and is situated approximately 60km from the sea. The city, which is entirely surrounded by walls, still looks the same as it did four centuries ago when it was built by the powerful dukes of Este. Ravenna (37km) is a treasure trove of art, history and culture. This city still exudes a glorious past, and was three times a capital: of the Western Roman Empire, of Gothic King Theodoric’s realm and of the European Byzantine Empire. Only 2 hours drive and you’re in Venice (112km)! Venice is a unique city, built on 120 islands dissected by canals linked by hundreds of bridges. The channels once fulfilled the function of streets. Today they are the avenues of cozy and romantic gondolas. Thanks to its beautiful buildings, Venice is also a rich in culture.
