The area around 'Lidi Comacchesi' offers numerous opportunities for interesting excursions. For example, you can visit the nature area of the Po Delta with its wonderful flora and fauna. This is a great place for hiking, biking and horseback riding. If you are looking for something in the way of culture and art, you can visit the historic cities of Comacchio, Ferrara, Ravenna and Venice. Comacchio, located at a distance of about 8 km, is a beautiful town dating from the late Roman period and built on 13 islands. Today's historic center retains wonderful relics from the past: magnificent churches and monuments as well as bridges spanning the canals. Ferrara is on UNESCO’s world heritage list and lies about 60km from the sea. The city, which is entirely surrounded by walls, looks the same as it did four centuries ago when it was built by the powerful dukes of Este. Ravenna (37km) is a treasure trove of art, history and culture. This city still exudes an atmosphere from its glorious past. It served as a capital three times: during the Roman Empire, under King Theodoric of the Goths and during the Byzantine Empire in Europe. Venice is only 2 hours away (112km) and should definitely be a part of your program. Venice is a unique city, built on 120 islands and intersected by canals which are connected by hundreds of bridges. The canals once fulfilled the function that streets serve today. Its pleasant and romantic gondolas still sail. With its beautiful buildings, Venice is a storehouse of history and culture.
