Holiday Park; Special; In the City
San Gimignano is situated on a hill (334m) which dominates the valley of the Elsa. The medieval origins of this beautiful town are easily recognizable on every corner of the city - in buildings, squares and towers. San Gimignano is known as the "city of the beautiful towers". Of the original 72 towers there are still 14 intact. The farm building of the complex was originally built during the second half of the 15th century, at the moment they decided to extend the city wall so it would enclose the church and monastery of St Agostinus. These became very important for the Sangimignanian community. As a guest of the complex you can arrange a visit to the wine-house and the farm of Cusona, which are famous for their Chianti wine production. These traditional vineyards are located about 6km from San Gimignano.
