Only 5 km from Granada (near the Alhambra), situated on the side of a hill along the Genil River, lies the village of Cenes de la Vega. Besides being the dormitory town (commuter town) of Granada, on the weekends it is one of the most popular destinations for Granadians as well as foreign tourists who come here to enjoy its environment, nature and, above all, the rich traditional in cuisine found in its numerous restaurants and snack bars. Here you can find some of the best restaurants in the province offering the traditional dishes of Andalucia as well as international cuisine. Granada is the southernmost station in Europe, located in southern Andalusia at more than 3,000 meters above sea level. These geographical characteristics provide ideal weather conditions for skiing including beautiful sunny days during most of the season. One of the biggest attractions in summer is the Aquaola water park. The location as well as the places surrounding the town make it ideal for hiking. It is also great for relaxing in the shade of poplars and willows. Its historic and artistic heritage include the parish church of Cenes de la Vega, dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary. La Fuente de la Pita is a popular hydraulic work of the municipality. It was used until the 1960s for the local supply of potable water. Its reconstruction was made using the gray stone of nearby Sierra Elvira. Located at a latitude of 37 º 09 ' and a longitude of 3 º 32', the town, situated on the banks of the Genil River, en route to the Sierra Nevada, has an environment of pine forests, chestnut, walnut and fruit trees. It's a quiet place, surrounded by fields and overlooking the Sierra Nevada. El barranco de Cenes is a beautiful natural area with cave homes excavated in the middle slopes of the ravine. It is a tourist attraction and a place where you can enjoy lots of wonderful nature.
The Sierra Nevada ski resort is located about 22 km from the house. With a length of 104,731 km, the station has slopes for beginners and experts: green (17) blue (40) red (52) and black (7). In addition, the Sierra Nevada offers plenty of services: several restaurants, kiosks, pizzeria, snack shop, five guarded parkings, ski storage, bus service, childcare, entertainment programs and English courses for children, equipment rental, Ski and snowboard lessons, apres-ski, etc...
