Casa Da Bastida holiday cottage is a traditional Galician stone house originally built in the XIV Century standing on 16 acres of pristine and lush countryside in the village of A Bastida, Council of Fonsagrada, Lugo, in the east of the ancient kingdom of Galicia. 

Situated along the path of one of the oldest pilgrimage routes to Santiago, the house has seen countless pilgrims, travelers, locals and merchants drop by over the centuries for supper or to stay overnight. Today, modernized and divided into five apartments of different sizes, it caters to visiting families, parties or couples who have come to enjoy the privileged outdoors along with the region’s culture and cuisine.

The House has five apartments, all fully equipped, with modern conveniences and WiFi internet access. The 16 acres of land surrounding the house is home to indigenous woods, Celtic and Roman ruins, natural fountains, seasonal streams and a varied flora and fauna. The countryside backdrop hosts stunning landscapes, magnificent trekking routes, rivers and peaks of over 3600 ft. They form a natural park where you can pursue outdoor sports, fishing and hunting well away from the roads and busy cities.

A Fonsagrada is a town and municipality in the province of Lugo, in the autonomous community of Galicia. A Fonsagrada is situated 3166 feet above sea level on the watershed between the rivers Rodil and Suarna. It is an important market for all kinds of agricultural produce, and manufactures linen and frieze.

The history of Fonsagrada (traditional name) is linked to the pilgrimage route to Santiago. A variant of the Way, the "camino primitivo", goes through the municipality.

The Neira and Eo rivers begin their journey in the province, both in the vicinity of O Cádavo in the Council of Baleira. The Neira flows south where it joins the river Miño. The Eo flows north and empties into the Cantabrian Sea. Both are rich in salmon and trout.

At the Salime water reservoir you can enjoy picturesque landscapes enhanced by the beauty of the water and the contrast between the fords and heights. The reservoir on the river Navia divides the councils of Negueira in two and causes a mild microclimate in its centre. The river's winding course makes the terrain exceptionally good for treks and horse rides.

The Marronda Wood is an area of ecological interest as well as a hunting reserve, ensconced in a hilly landscape between Braña, Mendeiras and Marin. All around Fonsagrada many ‘Seimeras’ or waterfalls can be found. At a height of over fifty meters the most spectacular is the Seimera of Vilagocende on the river Porteliña, close to Fonsagrada.
