Among nature; On an island; Near water
The town of Blato, the heart of the island, is also near. The town is worth a visit because of the numerous cultural events that take place here: folklore evenings, reviving ancient battle scenes, klapa singing. The local nunnery is also a tourist attraction, because the shrine holds the relic of a beatified Sister (nun). Vela Luka is the largest city closest to the destination, the perfect place for shopping. Here one can find an ample supply of cultural events and the gastronomical offer is also colorful. Above the city lays thecave, which recently became a major archeological site. The town of Korcula, nicknamed „Little Dubrovnik”, has to be on one's "must see" list: the city walls are reminescent of Dubrovnic. The researchers consider that the great traveller, Marco Polo, was born here, so the Marco Polo cult cherished by the locals is significant. On the island of Mljet one can find a natural reserve, reachable with smaller cruise ships.
