Lido degli Estensi is a modern resort and certainly the most famous of all 7 Lidi ("resorts", Comacchesi) situated near the historic town of Comacchio on the Romagnola Riviera. The resort is a haven for young people but is also ideal for families with children. Halfway down the boulevard lie the vibrant bars and nightclubs which make up the famous nightlife and make Lido degli Estensi the town that never sleeps. The area around 'Lidi Comacchesi' offers numerous opportunities for interesting excursions. For example, you can visit the Po Delta with its beautiful flora and fauna, where great hiking, biking and horseback riding treks can be made. If you’re looking for more in the way of culture and art, then take a trip to historic cities like Comacchio, Ferrara, Ravenna and Venice. Comacchio, located at a distance of only about 8 km, is a beautiful city dating from the late Roman period and built on 13 islands. Today's historic center retains great relics from the past: magnificent churches and monuments plus the bridges spanning the canals. Ferrara is on UNESCO’s world heritage list and is about 60km from the sea. The city, which is entirely surrounded by walls, looks as it did four centuries ago when it was built by the powerful dukes of Este. Ravenna (37km) is a treasure trove of art, history and culture. This city still exudes the atmosphere of its glorious past. It served as a capital three times: during the Roman Empire, of King Theodoric of the Goths and under the Byzantine Empire in Europe. Only 2 hours away by car, Venice (112km) should certainly be part of your home program. Venice is a unique city built on 120 islands and intersected by canals spanned by hundreds of bridges. The channels fulfilled the function then of streets today, and its pleasant and romantic gondolas still sail. Venice, with its beautiful buildings and rich history, has a fantastic culture.
