Holiday Park; Among nature; On an island
The island of Île de Ré is situated in the ocean, across from La Rochelle, and invites families, couples and groups to enjoy the diversity of its landscapes and sites. You can pursue various water sports here, such as sailing, surfing, jet-skiing and water-skiing, along with other activities like tennis and mini-golf or set off on a bicycle or hiking excursion to become better acquainted with Ile de Re. Be sure to visit typical villages such as Saint Martin de Ré, Ars en Ré, La Flotte en Ré with its Les Châteliers Abbey, Les Portes en Ré with its bird sanctuary, La Couarde sur Mer and Saint Clement with its lighthouse and Conche de Baleines. The latter owes its name to the fact that many whales have come here and become beached on the sand. Classified as a historic monument, the lighthouse offers a beautiful view of the island. Saint-Martin-de-Ré and its strongholds in the Vauban style are also worth a visit. You can also take a boat excursion to the island fortress called Fort Boyard. This was built to protect the harbor and the great arms factory of Rochefort against the assaults of the English Navy. Shortly after construction it was converted into a penitentiary. Music lovers can attend music festivals such as Ré-Label (in May), Music in Ré (mid-July) or the Festival Jazz au Phare (mid-August). For those interested in the maritime culture, at the end of September there is the "celebration of the shell", where you can sample the seafood and try oyster farming. If you want to enjoy a relaxing day, you can pamper yourself at the spa of Sainte Marie de Ré (5 km away from the apartment). Here you can enjoy special packages, such as the oil baths, seaweed wraps and aqua aerobics.
