This area is well-known for its beautiful long, wide sandy beaches. But besides the beach and beach clubs the area has more to offer including forests, bike trails, signposted paths (eg GR8), water-skiing, fly fishing, wakeboarding, boat rentals, mountain biking, quad biking, karting, horseback riding and many gourmet markets. The two ports in the region are known as Port Bloc and Port Médoc. Port Bloc is both a fishing port and a marina which can hold up to 300 boats. You can visit the fish market with its delicious fresh products every day. Near Port Bloc there is a fort you can visit: Le Fort du Verdon. A small road between the trees leads to this impressive building, camouflaged among the greenery. The cozy village of Soulac is just 5 km away. Boat trips, museums, splendid nature reserves (including wetlands) with bird sanctuaries make this region complete.
